Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 1st August 2025
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") apply to all users of the Mahi AI website (mahiai.nz) and govern all enquiries, services, and proposals offered by Mahi AI ("we", "our", "us"). By using this website or engaging our services, you agree to these Terms.
1. Services and proposals
Mahi AI offers advisory and content review services to help organisations use artificial intelligence (AI) respectfully and responsibly when working with Māori language, content, and communities. Services may include (but are not limited to):
Cultural Accuracy Reviews
AI Governance Advisory
Use of the “Mahi AI Reviewed” badge
All services are subject to a written quote or proposal, which will outline the scope, deliverables, timeframes, and fees. A project will commence once the client accepts the proposal in writing or via email.
2. Enquiries and contact
Enquiries submitted through our website forms or by email do not constitute a booking or agreement. We aim to respond to all enquiries promptly and will confirm details of availability, scope, and pricing via a formal quote or proposal document.
3. Payment terms
All fees will be outlined in your project proposal. Unless otherwise stated:
Invoices are payable within 7 days of issue
For larger projects, a deposit may be required prior to commencement
Payment is accepted via bank transfer to the details provided on the invoice
Failure to pay by the due date may result in suspension of services.
4. Cancellations and changes
If you need to cancel or reschedule a booked service, please notify us in writing as soon as possible.
Cancellations made more than 5 business days before the agreed start date will not incur a fee
Cancellations made within 5 business days may incur a fee to cover any work already undertaken or time reserved
Changes to the scope of work after a proposal has been accepted may result in an updated quote and timeframe.
5. Intellectual property
All work produced by Mahi AI, including reports, reviews, and written recommendations, remains the intellectual property of Mahi AI unless otherwise agreed in writing. Clients may use these materials for the purposes outlined in the proposal, but may not copy, resell, or distribute them without permission.
The "Mahi AI Reviewed" badge is a proprietary mark of quality and cultural credibility. Its use is subject to our approval and guidelines. It must not be used without prior written permission.
6. Cultural integrity and responsibility
We approach our work with care, respect, and integrity. While we will take every reasonable step to ensure your content is tika (correct) and pono (authentic), ultimate responsibility for use, distribution, and contextual alignment lies with the client. Our advice is intended to support better practice - it does not override the importance of ongoing engagement with Māori partners, experts, and communities.
7. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Mahi AI shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from the use of our website or services. We make no guarantees about the outcomes of our work. Clients are responsible for their own decisions, implementation, and results.
8. Website use
The information on our website is provided for general information purposes only. We do not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of any information on this site. We reserve the right to make changes or updates to our website content at any time.
9. Privacy
When you contact us or complete an enquiry form, we collect your personal information to respond to your request and keep a record of our communications. For more information, please see our Privacy Policy.
