Our Approach

AI often gets it wrong, especially when it comes to Māori language, culture, and context. While AI tools can be useful, they’re not trained with enough Māori data or tikanga-informed frameworks to consistently produce content that is accurate or culturally appropriate. In many situations, it may not be ‘right’ for Māori concepts and ideas to even be put into AI tools.

For businesses that have Māori customers, are working with Māori communities, or referencing te ao Māori in any way, this poses a serious risk. Inaccurate or inappropriate content can harm relationships, damage reputations, and undermine trust.

That’s where we come in. Mahi AI offers a professional review service to check, correct, and improve your AI-generated (or human-written) content. Our role is to make sure your intent is backed by integrity, so you can engage with Māori in a way that’s respectful, informed, and credible.

We’re here to bridge the gap between intention & understanding

At Mahi AI, we recognise that most organisations engaging with us already have the right heart, they want to honour Māori communities and deliver value. But good intentions need good information.

Our content reviews are not superficial - they are precise and often the first step to a much deeper journey of transformation. For those who want to go further, we offer strategic advice, AI governance support, and tikanga-based policy co-design.

Our review process is designed to be both effective and educational. We start by reviewing your content in a format that works for you, typically in Word documents or Google Docs using tracked changes and comments. This allows you to clearly see suggested edits, explanations, and opportunities for improvement in grammar, structure, cultural accuracy, and alignment with tikanga Māori.

But we don’t stop there!

To support learning and deeper understanding, we also provide short voice notes.

These offer context, reasoning, and real-world examples that help your team build confidence and understanding over time. It’s not just about fixing - it’s about growing together. Our goal is to empower you to get it right next time, not just rely on us every time.
